Super Sashing 44, 45, 46 from Virtual Quilter

The first design was designed on a standard grid with blocks and sashing, but the results looks like a central design with borders. I would make it as though there were borders, and would make the outer border narrower.

Second design is interesting, and the use of sashing is more obvious.

I like all of them, but especially the last one.

Cornerstone Logs + Juicy Citrus 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 from Virtual Quilter

The mandarin tree has been stripped last week, the last of the oranges were falling off yesterday, so a couple of friends left with bags full to clear that, and there are lemons galore on the tree, and a large box full picked and waiting for some homes.

Luckily these designs will keep during the summer.

Love the design above!

I also love the next one!

The one above is interesting, but not on my list of favourite designs.

I think one job on my list for today is to wrap some of those lemons in the box with paper ...

9 Patch Night Vision 19, 20 from Virtual Quilter

This series was started when I wondered what might happen when the corners of Nine Patch pieced blocks met to create a secondary design, and sometimes leaving five blank blocks in the centre of the original blocks.

In these two designs the bows are where the four corners meet, and the blank spaces are left plain so the quilting can be the feature. That means that all three layers in Electric Quilt can be put to good use!

Purple Patches 1, 2 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting. I have noticed that i am starting to use purple a lot. It was my Mum’s favourite colour, and I got to like it when I made my parents a quilt, and Mum got to choose the colours. I am going to have to add some different colours to some of the purple projects.

I love the second design!

Regular visitors may have noticed that there are a lot of new pattern projects making their debut over the last few months. I was getting a bit tired of some of the project files I had started much earlier ...

Cornerstone + Blues 106, 107, 108, 109, 110 from Virtual Quilter

I didn’t use the most inspiring colours in this project file but it would take a long time to change them all as there are over 500 quilt designs. I wonder how many repeated designs are included!

I rather like the design above.

Not all the blocks have the half and half light and dark combination of fabrics, which opens up a lot of options when placing blocks in quilt designs.

I like the one above too.

Another one to add to my list of likes!

The last Log Cabin design for this week is almost boring compared to ...

Also very interesting. I like both of them.

Red and White Log Jam 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 from Virtual Quilter

That could almost be a pretty flower!

Interesting design above.

Crisscross design is also interesting!

Designs in this project file would be great for sports fans who barrack for the red and white teams.

My favourite for this week’s quilter’s is the first design above.

More Log Cabin design variations mid week, next week, so you can have a five minute coffee break looking at some quilt designs.

Five Patch Fragments OP 17, 18 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting design, I like it!

Some quilting, but not a lot, but it would be enough to hold the layers together using some well bonded modern waddings.

Curved Cornerstones + 111.112, 113, 114, 115 from Virtual Quilter

Wow! A bit of a tangle.

Same blocks with a twist.

I like the one above.

Like the one above more than the one above it!

The last one is my favourite for the day, and this weeks Mid Week Log Cabin Retreat.

That is all for this weeks Mid Week quilter’s Log Cabin Retreat … more next week.

Very interesting design.

Different, but not as interesting as the first design for the day.

Cabin Fever Isolation Area 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 from Virtual Quilter

Love the first design this week.

There are four colourways of the TNT Log Cabin block in this project file, and there are over 500 quilt designs. I suspect that there are some repeats, but I have not been able to find any.

Interesting!

I like the one above.

I can see five spaces which could be filled with some interesting quilting, or some applique could be added before the quilting.

That is all for this weeks Log Cabin retreat, but there will be more Log Cabin designs mid week, next week.

Interesting.

Can anyone guess what song the name for this project file came from?

I like the second design very much!

Log Heap 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 from Virtual Quilter

This Mid Week Retreat post is a bit late. I don’t often pre-program blog post by more than an hour or two, but I was going to be absent from home for a week, spending time with a group of quilters, and for that time, time meant nothing to us. In preparation I set up not just the five days of retreat but an extra few days to cover the rest of the month of May. Well, not quite the rest of the month. When I reached the last day of the month I did a post without any ...

Stars on Ramsay Terrace 19, 20 from Virtual Quilter

Very neat and tidy design.

In case you are wondering, these block designs, and yesterday’s designs too, are 4 patch blocks, drafted on a 16×16 grid.

The second design is maybe a little too busy.

Stars on Tatiara Terrace 13, 14 from Virtual Quilter

Mostly simple piecing, reusing many of the same shapes for every block. These sorts of designs would be made easier for beginners by making less blocks in bigger sizes, which means some play time for me to see what some 3×3 and 5×5 designs would look like.

My favourite of these two is the first one.

Beetaloo Logs 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 from Virtual Quilter

One hundred and forty four identical blocks, …

twist a few around for a new design, …

then turn them all inside out for another design …

repeat over …

and over.

This project file could go on forever, but I like more block variety.

Oh, dear! I only turned one block half way round in the fourth design, and so the same mistake appears twice!

More Log Cabin designs, mid week, next week!

7 Patch Puzzle 11, 12 from Virtual Quilter

I like the first design! Very interesting.

A bit different to the average pieced patchwork quilt. The blocks are 7 patch and set on point.

Patchwork jigsaw Basics 3, 4 from Virtual Quilter

Some rather dull time at the machine piecing the curves, followed by a fair amount of time concentrating hard can bring some interesting results.

I think I would have to vote for the second design as my favourite of these two.

PJ 1134 from Virtual Quilter

It has been a while since I opened a Patchwork Jigsaw project. Love the border around these designs.

The 1134 in the title is the number I gave the block above which has been twisted and turned to make quite a few assorted over all designs.

Interesting variation in the second design.

It is a tie for my favourite of these three designs, first and last.

Love the border in all of them.

Vera’s Star 15, 16 from Virtual Quilter

One block, the one in the centre, which is used as the quilting motif, but some pieces are replaced by background fabric. or the seam lines can be totally ignored so that larger pieces of background can replace three smaller pieces.

The result for the maker is less cutting and stitching, but the result is much more interesting.

I should use some blocks with just background fabric with just the quilted outline! I might have a play!
